When you work in a hospital, you tend to get desensitized to things that happen around us because it's so common........but nothing will bring you back like the cry of a family member or friend who has just received the worst news of their life.

I got the shivers when I heard the sobbing today. I'm not sure if it was the particular situation or if it was because it was one of the patients I was following...but it hit me hard. I was flipping through the chart of another patient when I heard the sob and I just had to take a moment and stop working...I guess to take it all in...absorb it. It was the first patient that I've been following who had deteriorated. Two days ago, I was just thinking to myself that it's so great that the patients I were following were all improving and ready to be transferred to another ward. It's amazing when you get to see your patient who was very sick one day and then asking you to turn to CNN for them a few days later...I guess I knew that I wouldn't see this patient improve and that's what made it harder.

Anyway.......just a random thought.

Glasses Part II

In my last entry, I found that most guys looked better with glasses than they do without (at least that's how I prefer it, lol). I also said that I found girls generally looked better without glasses on. However, I do agree with some commenters who said that it really depends on the person and the environment. For example, I think that guys can pull of glasses whether it be a casual or more formal occasion. On the other hand, girls look much better without glasses on for such formal events.

Here are some examples:

Jessica Alba - She can pull off any look!

Hyori Lee - She definitely looks better without glasses. In Korea, she's known for her sexiness. I think glasses definitely take away from that.

Jennifer Garner - I think she looks equally nice in both. I like her frames.

Britney Spears

Boa - Another example of glasses = cute?

Keira Knightley

Jennifer Love Hewitt - I don't think glasses suit her at all. Then again, maybe it's just the frames that make her look older than she is.

Song Hye Gyo - I'm sure almost everyone has seen these pictures circulating on celeb sites before. She's such a beauty with or without glasses. I love those red frames.

So what do you think?

Random Observation

I've always found that guys who wear glasses generally look better than they do without.
I don't know what it is...maybe because they give off this intellectual feel?

Take a look at these examples:

Ben Affleck - Sure he looks good without...but so much better with the thick black glasses AND book.

Colin Farrell - Look at how big of a player he looks on the left...

Daniel Henney - Thick black glasses AND and an instrument!

Hugh Jackman - I think he pulls both looks off very nicely.

Jensen Ackles - He looks a bit nerdy with glasses on...but I think it's just the hair. I actually prefer him with glasses.

Nick Zano - I think he kills this look (pic on the right).

Anyone agree or disagree?

On the other hand, I think that girls tend to look better without glasses. That will be my next post...

How cute is this?

I came across this email forward that someone had posted on a forum and I thought it was so cute!

"Thumb represents your Parents
Second (Index) finger represents your Siblings
Middle finger represents your-Self
Fourth (Ring) finger represents your Life Partner
& the Last (Little) finger represents your children.

First, open your palms (face to face), bend the middle fingers and hold them together -back to back
Secondly, open and hold the remaining three fingers and the thumb - tip to tip

Now, try to separate your thumbs (representing the parents)..., they will open, because your parents are not destined to live with you lifelong, and have to leave you sooner or later.

Please join your thumbs as before and separate your Index fingers (representing siblings)...., they will also open, because your brothers and sisters will have their own families and will have to lead their own separate lives.

Now join the Index fingers and separate your Little fingers (representing your children)...., they will open too, because the children also will get married and settle down on their own some day.

Finally, join your Little fingers, and try to separate your Ring fingers (representing your spouse).
You will be surprised to see that you just CANNOT...because Husband & Wife have to remain together all their lives - through thick and thin.
